EMILY HONOURS LATE DAD

Emily Mortimer will be performing a one-off tribute

HOLLYWOOD star Emily Mortimer is to jet back to the UK to perform in honour of her late father Sir John. The actress, whose author dad died in January aged 85, will help re-enact some of his most famous works in a one-off tribute at London’s Royal Court Theatre on November 15.

Emily, 37, will be joined on the night by a number of her father’s high-profile pals including actors Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman and Richard Wilson. The show, called John Mortimer At The Court… And Later At The Bar, will also include music by former Deep Purple keyboard player Jon Lord, another friend of flamboyant Sir John, who famously created Rumpole Of The Bailey.

US-based Emily, pictured right, who has made her name in Hollywood flicks including The Pink Panther and Shutter Island, also appears alongside Sir Michael Caine in his new film Harry Brown.

Poignantly Sir John had talked of writing a play for his daughter . A close friend of Emily says: “It will obviously be a very emotional night for her as they were so close and she misses him terribly. But she knows this is just the kind of night her father would have loved and that she has to be part of it. He’d expect her to be up there.”
